Decided to unprivate this for as long as The Mirror Song is up, so new viewers can hear a second song from the upcoming EP. [lyrics below!] The song is called “Can’t” and is taken from the EP I’m currently producing with Tom Milsom. I wrote this song back when I was in eleventh grade, and Milsom is helping me re-record a number of other older tracks. The album is called “Taking Leave” and will be available this Spring from DFTBA Records. The percussion is mostly “found” percussion, including a running printer that was looped to the beat! The rest is from a Roland 330 drum machine. The synths are a Casiotone and a Roland strings and organ synth. =) Enjoy! Lyrics: He can’t put in to words, just how she made him melt, she molded, folded, pasted and cut, his edited heart was her favorite work of art, and it surprised him every day, the way, she made him obey he can’t see clearly, through love-tinted eyes, her erotic, robotic, bedroom lies, paid off in a blur for the minute he was let inside her, he can’t complain about the strains, of her relationship games he can’t dream vividly, while nightmares run wild, she’s locked, blocked, and mocked his smiles, he’s been destroyed, tears come falling from her trained toy, and with a sigh he can’t say why, but he can’t say “goodbye”.

A song I wrote as part of the “Waterfall of Consciousness” album-a-day. I tuned the guitar down because I thought it sounded cool, and because I was questioning my ability as a singer and guitarist at the time. I still do doubt my musical abilities at times. That goes in cycles.

A song that I wrote in 1995. One of my few compositions from that era that doesn’t strike me as utterly embarrassing. I’m particularly fond of some of the lyrics in the second verse.
